Here is the Friday update for September 14, 2012.
Here is the Friday Update for the first week of school!
Dear Parents,
Thank you to all of you who helped with the Field Day and Family Picnic today, and a special thank you must be given to Lisa Shield who worked tirelessly outside and chased-off an invading moose. I think the school may have to begin a “Parent Moose-Chase Wall of Fame.” Our first two inductees will be Pete Houston and Lisa Shield.
I must mention also that the BPG is looking for a new treasurer. If this is of interest to you, you can find an application attached.
Thank you for an incredible year and have a wonderful summer
With deepest gratitude,

Dear Parents,
This weekend we celebrate spring with our Woodland May Faire, beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday. We hope you will join us for music, art, dance, and craft. I encourage you to look at the Friday Update for specifics on the event. It will be a fabulous time, whether indoors or out.
As you will also see in the Friday Update, there is an outdoor project occurring on Monday and Tuesday that you are welcome to be a part of. Some of our Birchtree classes are planting trees and beautifying the amphitheater for the “Schoolyard Habit” project. This is a separate venture from the Playscape and is made possible by the US Fish & Wildlife Service. If you would like to join us, we will begin at 12 p.m. on Monday.
Lastly, if you are still in need of volunteer hours, there is an opportunity for you. Our loyal janitors, Danielle Terry and Ed Embler, could use your help vacuuming the common area of school next week. They will both be taking vacation time next week and would welcome your help.
Have a great weekend. We hope to see you Saturday.
Sincerely,
Tisha Jones

Dear Parents,
As the end of year approaches and as is typical for the month of May, there is much transpiring in every classroom. Many classes are putting-on a class play for which the teachers could use any assistance that you may give. Additionally, there are many class field trips occurring over the next month that I would encourage you to ask your classroom teacher or lead volunteer about.
Attached to this e-mail is the Friday Update, as well as a letter regarding the upcoming Woodland May Faire this Saturday, May 12th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. I hope that you will take the time to read through these, and please call or e-mail if you have any questions or comments (745-1831 or tisha.jones@matsuk12.us).
Have a beautiful weekend, and we hope to see you at the Spring Orchestra Concert this evening.
Sincerely,
Tisha Jones

Dear Parents,
As always, there is much to read about in the Friday Update. The upcoming Spring Orchestra Concert for grades 4 -8 is next Friday at Wasilla Assembly of God from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided by the school afterward, and you do not need to bring food to share. Please just bring your loving souls and proud hearts.
I must emphatically apologize to the Leingang family. As you will see in the Friday Update, Alexa Leingang was highlighted this week for her incredible journey to the Alaska Geography Bee. In the paper copies of the Update, I misspelled Alexa’s last name. It has since been corrected, but I am so sorry for the mistake.
The Woodland May Faire is just around the corner. We have a second committee meeting this coming Monday at 2 p.m. If you would like to take part in the planning of this event, feel free to join us in the library. There are many unique and exciting booths, which we could use your help with.
Have a wonderful weekend, and we will see you next week.
Sincerely,
Tisha Jones

Dear Parents,
Allow me to first thank all of you who participated in some capacity in the Parent Appreciation Party last Saturday. It was a wonderful time spent with our incredible community. Kelly Strawn, thank you for chairing this party committee and for gracing us with your dance moves.
Attached is this week’s Friday Update, and there are many new dates and events that will be of interest. In addition to these, I would like to relay a couple of other points of information. The 6th graders are now selling their hand-created, tie-dyed t-shirts. These shirts sport an owl emblem, our school mascot, and are dyed in the earth tones of green and brown. You can purchase one at the front desk for $12.00.
Also, our school will be participating as a drop-off location for Full Circle Farms beginning next week. If you would like to join this coop and receive organic, farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, please visit their website at https://secure.fullcircle.com/signup/?. Simply enter the 99645 zip code and choose Birchtree Charter School in the drop-down box. Deliveries will be made every Thursday, and the school will be open in the summer for pick-up days from 12 – 4 p.m.
Have a delightful weekend, and I hope you are able to spend some time outdoors.
Sincerely,
Tisha Jones

Dear Parents,
There are several items of interest I would like to share with you. First, for those of you who so graciously donated food for The 3rd on the 9th during parent-teacher conferences, your dishes are in the front office. Most are labeled, and Ms. Fay can help guide you to their location.
Secondly, as spring has arrived and the record snowfall is melting, we have children who are coming in cold and wet from the great outdoors. We encourage you to send your children with rain gear (coat, pants, boots) and possibly a change of clothes. Being outside is an integral part of their day, and we hope for them to be comfortable.
Thirdly, it has been brought to my attention that the Birchtree Monthly Mail sent last week was not easily read for some families because of the formatting, and so I am resending the newsletter in PDF along with the Friday Update. I hope that this will help.
Lastly, the Parent Appreciation Party is this Saturday at 7 p.m. We hope to see all of you there. Again, tickets are free and will be available at the Palmer Depot. If you would like to purchase spirits and/or hand holds at the event, which will be purchased for dedication for $25.00, please bring cash. It will be a great evening celebrating Birchtree parents. We are so grateful for all you do.
Have a wonderful weekend, and thank you to all parents who took part in Pastries for Parents this morning. Prospective parents had only positive feedback, and that is a testament to your kindness and thoughtfulness. We couldn’t do it without you.
Sincerely,
Tisha Jones
