Pastries for Parents

This Friday will be our February Pastries for Parents meeting in the music room at 8:30.    We do need some donations of pastries, fruit or breakfast casseroles.  If you can help in this way, please contact Mary Beth Feldman at mary.feldman@matsuk12.us.

Special Speaker at Birchtree

On Thursday, February 14, from 7-8 pm,  Meg Gorman will be coming to Birchtree to speak to interested parents about what a Waldorf-inspired high school has to offer.  She will also be speaking in Anchorage on Friday night as well as running a workshop on Saturday, February 16.  The cost for Thursday’s session is $10 per person and $15 per couple.

Handwork Circle – Winter Decorations

This coming Monday, December 3 at 1:30 p.m., we will be having our first “handwork circle”.  We will be making some specific winter decorations for the Winter Concert.  Come and have fun crafting, chatting, and getting to know each other better!  We will meet in the Parent Work Room.  Please RSVP to Mary Beth Feldman at 745-1831 or at mary.feldman@matsuk12.us.

Professional Development Days

This is a reminder that there will be no school for students Thursday and Friday, October 25-26.   Teachers will be having professional development training during these days.

APC and BPG Election Application Deadline Extended

The deadline for APC and BPG election applications has been extended to October 22nd.  Currently, we do not have enough candidates for either board to fill empty seats.  Please, consider becoming a candidate for one of the openings!  If you would like to know more about what is involved in serving on the APC or BPG, contact a member of the elections committee—Pete Houston, Donna Levesque, Abigail Beecham, or …..Their contact information is available through the front office.

Library Tea

Do you love books? Do you have a passion for seeing children engaged with books daily? We need parent volunteers for our library team! Next Tuesday, October 23, we will be holding a Library Tea/Meeting for those parents interested in helping to run and maintain the library. Please, come if you can help in any way! The goodies will be served at 2 pm. We will start the meeting at 2:15.

BPG Election Applications

BPG Application Deadline Extended
Parents interested in joining the Birchtree Parent Guild still have time to submit an application.  The submission deadline for applicants has been moved to Monday, October 22.  Candidates’ pictures and brief statements will be posted electronically and on a bulletin board by the front office for your consideration.  Voting will begin October 25 and end one hour prior to the BPG’s annual meeting on November 1.  New members will be seated on November 15, during the APC meeting.

If you are unable to access an application electronically, hard copies are available at the front office.  Look for information on the availability of ballots in the Friday Update.  Questions can be addressed to Pete Houston (7th grade parent), Elections Committee Chair.
