Volunteer Opportunities – German Classes

Frau Rogers is planning so many exciting activities over the next weeks in German class!  She does need some parent volunteers to assist with some of them.  If you are available for any of the following, please contact Frau Rogers or Mary Beth Feldman.

  • Second Grade - Granola making.  A parent is needed for each of the following dates to help the Second Grade make granola and to stay after class to help bake the granola.  Mrs. Sharrer’s class – October 23, 11:45 – 12:15.  Mrs. Johndro’s class – October 25, 11:45 – 12:15.
  • Third Grade  – Cookie making. A parent is needed to help during class and to stay after to bake the cookies.  Mrs. Folsom’ s class, October 23, 12:15 – 12:45.  Mrs. Tran’s class – October 24, 12:15 – 12:45.
  • Fourth Grade – Parents are needed to help with an extended project that involves making and finishing lanterns.  This help is needed from October 16 – November 8 (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays), 12:45-1:30.
  • Seventh Grade – Making potato soup. A parent is needed to help with the soup making and to stay after to help serve it for the seventh grade lunch. November 14.

The Fall Faire is coming soon!

The Fall Faire will be held on Saturday, October 13 from 11 am to 2 pm. This is a wonderfully fun time for all Birchtree families. We do still need help in a few areas. Please check with your lead parent to see how you can help with your child’s grade activity.

We also need lots of yummy goodies for the Bake Sale. Bring your baked goods in Friday, October 12 or Saturday before the Faire begins.

Finally, we need some seasonal decorations. This year, pumpkins will be the centerpiece. Please decorate a pumpkin to add to the decorations. Be creative!

APC/BPG Elections

APC and BPG elections are swiftly approaching. Please, consider submitting an application to run for open seats. An application for APC elections was attached in the Friday Update mailing. An application to run for the BPG will be coming home this week. Applications are due October 11.

August 24, 2012 Friday Update

Here is the Friday Update for the first week of school!

Playscape – Community Build Update

Hello Birchtree Families!  Please mark your calendars for a very important weekend for our school.  The weekend dates of August 10, 11, and 12 will be a focused, organized, and fun community build for our playground.  Additional detailed information will be coming to you this summer, but for now please save the dates of August 10, 11, and 12.  Also, you can contact Jennifer Budde for additional information at 232-5852. Without the many generous, energetic hands of the Birchtree community, this won’t happen.  We, and most importantly, our students, need you to make this playground happen.  See you on August 10 – 12!

Friday Update, April 27, 2012

Dear Parents,

As the end of year approaches and as is typical for the month of May, there is much transpiring in every classroom.  Many classes are putting-on a class play for which the teachers could use any assistance that you may give.  Additionally, there are many class field trips occurring over the next month that I would encourage you to ask your classroom teacher or lead volunteer about.

Attached to this e-mail is the Friday Update, as well as a letter regarding the upcoming Woodland May Faire this Saturday, May 12th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  I hope that you will take the time to read through these, and please call or e-mail if you have any questions or comments (745-1831 or tisha.jones@matsuk12.us).

Have a beautiful weekend, and we hope to see you at the Spring Orchestra Concert this evening.

Sincerely,
Tisha Jones

Friday Update, April 13, 2012

Dear Parents,

Allow me to first thank all of you who participated in some capacity in the Parent Appreciation Party last Saturday.  It was a wonderful time spent with our incredible community.  Kelly Strawn, thank you for chairing this party committee and for gracing us with your dance moves.

Attached is this week’s Friday Update, and there are many new dates and events that will be of interest.  In addition to these, I would like to relay a couple of other points of information.  The 6th graders are now selling their hand-created, tie-dyed t-shirts.  These shirts sport an owl emblem, our school mascot, and are dyed in the earth tones of green and brown.  You can purchase one at the front desk for $12.00.

Also, our school will be participating as a drop-off location for Full Circle Farms beginning next week.  If you would like to join this coop and receive organic, farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, please visit their website at https://secure.fullcircle.com/signup/?.  Simply enter the 99645 zip code and choose Birchtree Charter School in the drop-down box.  Deliveries will be made every Thursday, and the school will be open in the summer for pick-up days from 12 – 4 p.m.

Have a delightful weekend, and I hope you are able to spend some time outdoors.

Sincerely,
Tisha Jones
Parent Partnership Coordinator
