Last Day of School Picnic

On Thursday, May 23, at noon, we will be having our annual Last Day of School picnic!  A flier giving all the details can be found here.  This is a potluck picnic, so every family is expected to bring something to share.  If you have a child in 1st-3rd grades, please bring a large side dish to share.  If your child is in 4th -8th grades, bring a large dessert to share.  If you have child in both groups, feel free to choose which type of dish you would like to bring.  :-)   If you have any questions, please contact Mary Beth Feldman at mary.feldman@matsuk12.us.

Pastries for Parents

This Friday, May 10, will be the last Pastries for Parents of the year.  Please come and just have a relaxed time together as we close this school year and look forward to the next.  If you can contribute some goodies to share, please contact Mary Beth Feldman at mary.feldman@matsuk12.us.  Thank you!

I-Parent Access

Parents, if you do not have your I-Parent access code, please contact Faye in the front office as soon as possible!  You must have the code before the end of the school year in order to register your child for Birchtree over the summer.

Library Reminder

Notices for overdue books were  sent home with students this week.  The library staff will not be collecting fines this year, but the price of the book is included just so that you can see the value to the school.  Next year, fines will be charged.

Please, go on a treasure hunt for these books and return them as soon as possible, so that our library volunteers can make sure our collection is complete at the end of the school year.  Thank you!

Special APC Executive Session

There will be a special executive session of the APC this Thursday at 8:00 a.m. in regards to principal hiring.

May Faire Parent Workday

Thursday, May 2 from 8:30am – 5:00pm will be the May Faire Parent Workday - a time for parents to come to the parent workroom and volunteer a little or a lot of time to help get the crafts prepped and ready for May Faire.  It will be a fun time cutting, sewing, measuring, sawing, melting ribbon ends, bending copper into loops, and getting to know other Birchtree Parents in the process.  There are no difficult tasks, just a lot of little ones that are easy for parents to pop in and help with.  Even 10 or 20 minutes can be very productive and very helpful!  There will be coffee and snacks, along with lunch at 12:00.  Hope to see you there!

Battle of the Books List

The Battle of the Books List for the 2013/2014 school year can be found here.  Happy Summer Reading!

Don’t Forget Seasonal Gear!

Break up is an wonderful time for outdoor play, but it is also a time of lots of puddles and LOTS of mud!  Please make sure that your child has mud clothes and/or a change of clothes everyday.  Even if it is not raining, our Playscape is quite muddy at this time of year.

Parent Satisfaction Survey

Dear Parents, please take a few minutes to fill out the Parent Satisfaction Survey found at the link below.  Your feedback helps us to be reflective about our program and community.  It is also a requirement for our grant.  Hard copies can be found at the front office and put into the Parent Feedback Box (very colorful box on the counter).  The link to the online survey is https://birchtree.wufoo.com/forms/parent-satisfaction-survey/.  Thank you!
