Mrs. Diep Tran

Position: Fourth Grade Teacher

Biography:
Diep Tran grew up in southern Minnesota; received her BA in Biology and English at Luther College in Iowa; and will be completing her MAT for Elementary Education, K-8 through UAS. She began her career as a field biologist onboard fishing vessels and in remote sites of Alaska for National Marine Fisheries. While working with children at an emergency shelter in Juneau, she decided to become a teacher. She has been teaching 1st and 5th grades at Sutton Elementary for the last three years. For the last nine years, she and her husband Rob, children Koen and Ava, and their two dogs live near the Matanuska River with beautiful surroundings to keep them busy with hiking, 4-wheeling, fishing, fossil hunting, kayaking, poking under rocks and logs, gathering berries and plants, jumping in puddles, and having many other adventures. Diep likes to dabble in whatever strikes her fancy, including: stained glass, gardening, pottery, and pysansky egg decorating. She is happy to be a part of  the Birchtree family and to inspire children to learn through the Waldorf methods.
